Native to mountainous areas of South Africa, Adromischus subdistichus inhabits exposed granite outcrops. It is a slow-growing polycarpic species, notable within its genus for thick leaves arranged in two opposite rows, an uncommon trait. Thick, ovate-spatulate leaves 3-4 cm long, arranged distichously. Green-grey coloration with reddish tips intensified under water stress and strong light.
Exposure to direct sunlight for minimum 4 hours daily. Reduced watering from October to March, substrate with at least 70% draining mineral content. Minimum temperature 5°C; prone to root rot under waterlogged conditions.
