Aeonium castello-paivae is endemic to Tenerife, Canary Islands, thriving on shaded volcanic rock outcrops. It is a polycarpic species with rosettes up to 15 cm wide. It differs within the genus by its tufted growth habit and leaves featuring subtly undulated margins. Compact rosettes with spatulate leaves measuring 5-7 cm, featuring undulated margins and smooth surface. Dark green coloration with intensified purple hues during winter. Leaves arranged spirally with rounded apex.

Prefers filtered sunlight or partial shade. Watering minimal from October to March, increased in spring with substrate containing at least 70% mineral content. Minimum temperature 5°C. Susceptible to basal necrosis from waterlogging.
