Agave stricta, native to central Mexico, grows on rocky limestone slopes with fast drainage. It exhibits a summer monocarpic cycle, forming compact rosettes and producing a terminal inflorescence up to 3 meters tall, notable within the genus for its relatively restrained spines. Leaves linear, 1-2 cm wide, arranged in a compact spiral rosette, up to 40 cm long, gray-green with 3-5 mm marginal spines, color deepens during summer.
Full direct sun exposure for at least 6 hours; watering 1-2 times during summer, none in winter; substrate with minimum 70% mineral content (sand and pumice); minimum temperature 5°C; prevent waterlogging to avoid root rot.
