Native to mountainous regions of South Africa, Aloe aculeata inhabits rocky slopes and sandy soils. It exhibits a pronounced summer growth cycle and is polycarpic. Distinguished within its genus by prominent marginal spines and robust leaf architecture. Lanceolate leaves, 30-50 cm long, arranged in an open rosette; margins bear sharp spines up to 1 cm. Dark green coloration with purple hues under full summer sun.
Place in full sun or partial shade. Water exclusively during summer, preventing waterlogging. Use substrate with minimum 70% mineral content. Minimum temperature 5°C. Root rot risk if overwatered.
