Native to the mountainous regions of South Africa, Aloe aristata inhabits sandstone rocky slopes. It is a clumping, polycarpic succulent forming dense rosettes. Unlike many Aloe species, it lacks marginal leaf spines, a key diagnostic trait within the genus. Lanceolate leaves 5-8 cm long arranged in tight rosettes, surface bearing prominent white tubercles, dark green coloration with purplish hues during colder months.

Prefers partial shade with filtered light; water sparingly from autumn through spring; substrate composed of at least 70% coarse sand and gravel; minimum temperature 5°C; critical to prevent waterlogging to avoid root rot.
