astrophytum ornatum

Astrophytum ornatum is native to northeastern Mexico, inhabiting limestone slopes with well-drained soils. It is a monocarpic species flowering after several years, notable within its genus for its pronounced ribs and a white woolly coating covering the stem. Clustered stem with 7-9 prominent ribs covered by white wool. Diameter ranges 15-30 cm. Spineless. Dark green color with silvery hues during summer.
