Native to the Peruvian Andes, Cereus peruvianus monstruous thrives on rocky limestone slopes. This polycarpic cactus exhibits fasciation mutations causing irregular growth, distorting the typical cylindrical stem into twisted, knobby branches. Fasciated cylindrical stems up to 3 m long, with 3-5 irregular ribs. Robust spines 2-4 cm long, spaced in clusters. Dark green color shifting to bluish-gray tones during summer.
Full direct sunlight exposure for at least 6 hours daily. Watering every 3-4 weeks in summer, none in winter. Substrate with minimum 70% mineral content (lapilli, pumice). Minimum temperature 5°C; prolonged waterlogging causes root rot.
