chamaelobivia hybrid

Hybrid from Chamaecereus and Lobivia, native to Argentine Andes, found on rocky slopes at 2000-3000 m elevation. It is a polycarpic species with an extended spring flowering period. Notable anomaly: merges Chamaecereus tubercles with large solitary Lobivia flowers. Cylindrical stems 10-15 cm long, forming compact clumps; tubercles bear slender spines 1-2 cm; solitary flowers 6-8 cm diameter, red-orange with yellow hues in buds.

Full sun exposure at least 6 hours daily; reduced watering from autumn to late winter; substrate with 70% inorganic components (pumice, coarse sand); minimum temperature 5°C; avoid waterlogging which induces root rot.
