Coryphantha elephantidens is native to central Mexico, inhabiting calcareous slopes and sandy, well-drained soils. It is a polycarpic species with globose stems up to 10 cm diameter. Notably, it features prominent tubercles and strong spines, a less frequent characteristic within the Coryphantha genus. Globose stem 6-10 cm, conical tubercles arranged spirally, rigid central spines up to 3 cm long, olive green color shifting to gray under water stress.
Full direct sunlight exposure; watering reduced from October to March; substrate with minimum 70% coarse sand and pumice; minimum temperature 5°C; prevent water stagnation to avoid root rot.
