Cotyledon ladysmithiensis is native to the rocky slopes around Ladismith, South Africa, thriving at 800-1200 m elevation. It exhibits slow, polycarpic growth with minimal and irregular flowering, distinguishing it within the Cotyledon genus. Leaves ovate-spatulate, 3-5 cm long, arranged in a compact rosette; smooth surface, green-grey with pinkish hues under water stress.
Partial shade with filtered light; reduced watering from autumn to spring; substrate containing at least 70% mineral drainage material; minimum temperature 5 °C; prevent waterlogging to avoid root rot.
