Cotyledon pendens originates from rocky granite slopes in South Africa, exhibiting a monocarpic life cycle. It features pendulous stems up to 50 cm long and is atypical within its genus due to its sprawling growth habit and minimal lateral branching. Leaves spatulate, 3-5 cm long, alternately arranged on pendulous stems. Color ranges from gray-green to red-tipped under water stress or high light exposure.
Full sun exposure for minimum 6 hours daily. Suspend watering in winter; resume at 30 ml/week during spring-summer. Substrate composed of at least 70% coarse sand and gravel. Minimum temperature 5°C. Root rot risk if waterlogged.
