Native to South Africa, Crassula benjamin inhabits rocky slopes with sandy, well-drained soils. It is a clump-forming, polycarpic species with dense branching and leaves exhibiting seasonal color shifts. Unlike many in its genus, it tolerates partial shade without reduced photosynthetic efficiency. Leaves ovate, 3-5 mm thick, 20-30 mm long, arranged in open rosettes along branched stems. Light green coloration with pinkish hues under water stress or intense light.
