Native to South Africa, Crassula cotyledonis inhabits granite rocky slopes. It is a monocarpic species producing a single terminal flower before senescence. Unusually for the genus, its leaves are thick, rounded, and exhibit a subtly rough texture. Leaves thick, nearly cylindrical, 3-5 cm long, arranged in tight rosettes. Green-gray coloration with violet hues under water stress.
Full direct sunlight exposure. Water sparingly from late spring to early autumn, minimal in winter. Substrate with at least 70% mineral drainage. Minimum temperature 5°C. Prolonged waterlogging causes root rot.
