Native to South Africa, Crassula muscosa inhabits rocky slopes with sandy, well-drained soils. It is a polycarpic species with continuous growth, notable within its genus for thin, branched stems forming dense, cable-like mats. Thin stems 2-5 mm wide, small linear leaves tightly appressed in compact spiral, 2-4 mm long, light green color with yellow-brown hues under water stress.
Full direct sun exposure for minimum 6 hours; reduced watering in winter, suspended below 10 °C; substrate with at least 70% mineral components (perlite, pumice); minimum temperature 5 °C; high root rot risk if waterlogging occurs.
