Native to South Africa, Crassula tom Thumb inhabits rocky slopes with sandy, well-drained soils. It is a polycarpic species exhibiting compact, bushy growth, notable within its genus for its exceptionally small, overlapping leaves. Succulent ovate-spatulate leaves measuring 5-8 mm, arranged in tight, overlapping rosettes. Greenish-gray coloration with reddish tips under water stress or high light exposure.
Needs full sun exposure for at least 6 hours daily. Reduced watering in winter, increased in summer with complete drying between irrigations. Substrate containing at least 70% inert material. Minimum temperature 5°C. Susceptible to prolonged waterlogging.
