Delosperma sphalmanthiedes originates from South African rocky slopes with siliceous soils. It is a perennial polycarpic species characterized by prostrate, extensively branched stems longer than typical Delosperma species. Leaves linear, 10-15 mm long, arranged in a tight spiral along stems; glaucous green with violet hues during winter.
Full sun exposure for minimum 6 hours; reduced watering from autumn to spring; substrate with at least 70% coarse sand; tolerates minimum 5°C; susceptible to prolonged waterlogging.
