Echeveria chroma originates from the calcareous rocky slopes of Mexican mountains at 1500-2300 m altitude. It is a polycarpic species with a summer-autumn growth cycle and shows unusual leaf pigmentation within the genus, with color shifts depending on light intensity. Spatulate leaves 3-4 cm wide arranged in a compact rosette with slightly undulate margins. Base color is gray-green with pinkish hues that intensify under full sun and fade in shade.
Full direct sun exposure for at least 6 hours daily. Watering reduced from October to March, increased during active growth. Substrate with minimum 70% mineral content (pumice). Minimum temperature 5°C; prone to damage from prolonged waterlogging.
