Echeveria orion originates from central Mexico, inhabiting limestone rocky slopes at elevations between 1500 and 2000 meters. It is a clumping, polycarpic succulent exhibiting strong anthocyanin pigmentation under light stress, a distinctive trait within the genus. Leaves spatulate, 3-4 cm wide, arranged in a compact rosette 10-12 cm across. Green-grey coloration with intensified violet hues during winter. Margins subtly crenate, surface glabrous with a waxy cuticle.
Provide full sun exposure for a minimum of 6 hours daily. Water sparingly from October to March; increase frequency in summer ensuring complete substrate drying between irrigations. Use substrate with at least 70% inert material, excellent drainage required. Minimum temperature 5 °C; prone to damage from prolonged waterlogging.
