Echeveria setosa originates from the mountainous areas of Mexico, commonly found on rocky slopes with sandy, well-drained soils. It is a polycarpic species forming compact rosettes and flowering in spring. It is notable within the genus for its dense setose hairs covering the leaves, giving a distinctive texture. Leaves spatulate, 3-5 cm long, arranged in a compact rosette with margins covered by white setose hairs. Green-grey coloration with silvery reflections, intensified under full sun and cooler temperatures.

Requires at least 6 hours of direct full sun daily. Water sparingly from spring to autumn, cease watering in winter. Use substrate with minimum 70% mineral content for drainage. Minimum temperature 5°C; prone to damage from prolonged waterlogging.
