Echinopsis eyriesii is native to the mountainous calcareous slopes of Bolivia at elevations between 2000-3000 m. This monocarpic cactus produces globose stems up to 10 cm in diameter, distinguished by numerous fine radial spines uncommon in related species. Globose stems 7-10 cm diameter with 12-15 rounded ribs. Fine radial spines 1-2 cm long densely and evenly arranged. Light green coloration shifts to bluish under water stress.
Full direct sun exposure for minimum 6 hours daily. Water only during spring-summer, allowing complete drying between irrigations. Substrate with at least 70% mineral content (coarse sand and pumice). Minimum temperature 5 °C. Root rot risk from waterlogging.
