Native to coastal areas of South Africa, Euphorbia ferox inhabits rocky slopes with sandy soils. It is a polycarpic species characterized by segmented stems bearing branched spines, an unusual feature within the Euphorbia genus. Segmented stems up to 30 cm with alternately arranged branched spines 3-5 cm long. Grey-green coloration with reddish hues during summer.
Full direct sunlight exposure. Watering limited to spring and autumn, avoiding waterlogging. Substrate with at least 70% mineral content for drainage. Minimum temperature 8°C. Root rot susceptibility from overwatering.
