Euphorbia gorgonis is native to the mountainous sandstone slopes of South Africa. It is a monocarpic species developing a single branched shrub-like stem before flowering. Unique within the genus for its thick silvery-gray bark and bushy branching habit. Bushy branched stems up to 50 cm, quadrangular section with prominent ribs, silvery-gray coloration. Floral bracts small, green with red edges, flowering occurs in spring.
Full sun exposure with minimum 6 hours daily. Water sparingly from late spring to early autumn; substrate must contain at least 70% well-draining mineral components. Minimum tolerance 5 °C; susceptible to root rot from waterlogging.
