Euphorbia obesa is native to the Western Cape, South Africa, inhabiting sandy and gravelly slopes. It is a monocarpic species that flowers after several years, notable within Euphorbia for its globular shape and lack of branching. Globular body, 5-10 cm diameter, featuring 8-12 prominent ribs. Epidermis is gray-green with darker vertical stripes, coloration deepens under water stress.
Requires full sun exposure for minimum 6 hours daily. Watering limited to spring-summer, preventing waterlogging; substrate with at least 70% mineral drainage. Minimum temperature 8°C; root rot risk from excess moisture.
