Gasteraloe spirit hails from rocky slopes in eastern South Africa, favoring basaltic substrates with rapid drainage. It exhibits a clumping habit and is polycarpic, producing annual inflorescences from compact rosettes, an uncommon trait within the Gasteraloe genus. Leaves linear, 1.5-2 cm thick, arranged in dense spiral rosettes, up to 25 cm long. Green-gray with pinkish margins under full sun, shifting to olive green in shade.
Requires minimum 6 hours direct full sun. Water sparingly from October to March, increase during active growth. Substrate with at least 70% mineral content (pumice and coarse sand). Minimum temperature 5 °C; vulnerable to prolonged waterlogging.
