Native to coastal areas of South Africa, Gasteria verrucosa inhabits rocky slopes with sandy, well-drained soils. It is a slow-growing, polycarpic species featuring leaves covered with epidermal warts, a distinctive trait within the Gasteria genus. Thick, triangular, pointed leaves measuring 5-10 cm, arranged in compact rosettes. Surface bears irregular whitish warts; dark green color shifts to grayish under water stress.

Provide filtered sunlight; reduce watering from autumn to spring, increase during summer. Use substrate with minimum 70% mineral content. Minimum temperature 8°C. Susceptible to root rot from waterlogging.
