Native to semi-desert areas of Mexico, Hildewinteria aureispina crestata thrives on calcareous rocky substrates. It is a polycarpic succulent exhibiting a crested growth anomaly that disrupts the genus' usual columnar habit, producing expanded, contorted structures. Crested stem with expanded branches up to 15 cm wide, densely spined surface bearing 2-3 cm long golden spines, dark green coloration exhibiting seasonal yellow-gold hues.
Full direct sunlight exposure; reduced watering from October to March, increased during active growth; substrate with at least 70% draining mineral content; minimum temperature 5°C; prevent waterlogging to avoid root rot.
