Native to the mountainous areas of South Africa, Kalanchoe longiflora inhabits rocky slopes with sandy, well-drained soils. It is a polycarpic species with succulent stems up to 30 cm tall. It differs within the genus by its linear-lanceolate leaves with serrated margins and notably long tubular flowers. Leaves linear-lanceolate, 5-8 cm long, arranged in an open rosette; margins finely serrated with regular teeth. Color green-grayish with reddish tones under water stress or intense sunlight exposure.

Full sun exposure for minimum 6 hours daily; reduced watering from autumn to spring, increased in summer. Substrate with at least 70% mineral content (coarse sand and pumice). Minimum temperature 5°C; root rot risk due to waterlogging.
