Native to the mountainous regions of Madagascar, Kalanchoe tomentosa 'Chocolate' inhabits rocky slopes with sandy, well-drained soils. It is a polycarpic species with a bushy growth habit and tomentose leaves featuring dark brown margins, a distinctive trait within the genus. Leaves spatulate, 5-8 cm long, arranged in open rosettes, densely tomentose surface with dark brown hairy margins. Leaf color green-grayish, darkening to brown tones during colder months.

Exposure to filtered sunlight or partial shade; watering reduced from autumn to spring, increased in summer; substrate with at least 70% mineral content (pumice, coarse sand); minimum temperature 8°C; prone to root rot if waterlogged.
