Leuchtenbergia principis originates from northern Mexico, inhabiting limestone rocky slopes. It is a monocarpic species characterized by elongated finger-like tubercles, a unique feature within its genus, completing its life cycle with a late flowering event preceding senescence. Cylindrical tubercles up to 10 cm long arranged spirally around the stem; gray-green coloration with whitish tips, intensifying under water stress.
Full direct sunlight exposure; irrigation halted during winter, resumed in spring with substrate containing 70% mineral content; minimum temperature 5 °C; prevent waterlogging to avoid root rot.
