Mammillaria marksiana is native to northern Mexico, inhabiting limestone rocky slopes at 1000-1500 m elevation. It is a polycarpic species with globose stems up to 8 cm diameter. Characterized by woolly areoles on tubercles and fine radial spines, it differs by its compact growth compared to other Mammillaria. Globose stems 5-8 cm, conical tubercles arranged in a tight spiral. Radial spines thin, 5-7 mm long; central spines absent or minimal. Light green coloration, darkening slightly in summer.
Full direct sunlight exposure. Water sparingly October-March, increase frequency April-September. Substrate with minimum 70% mineral content ensuring drainage. Minimum temperature 5 °C. Prolonged waterlogging causes root rot, ensure fast drainage.
