Monanthes muralis is native to the Canary Islands, typically colonizing sun-exposed volcanic rock faces. It exhibits a perennial polycarpic life cycle and uniquely forms dense mats on vertical cliffs, adapting to extreme microhabitats within its genus. Leaves spatulate, 10-15 mm long, arranged in compact rosettes; coloration shifts from light green to pale yellow under full sun. Surface smooth with entire margins and rounded apex.
Requires full direct sunlight; watering limited from spring to late summer, withheld in winter. Substrate composed of at least 70% mineral material for drainage. Minimum temperature 5 °C; root rot risk if water stagnates.
