Native to Mexico, Pachyphytum captain jessop inhabits calcareous rocky slopes at 1500-2000 m elevation. It is a polycarpic species with tufted growth and exhibits more elongated leaves than congeners, with a pronounced bluish pigmentation. Leaves spatulate, 3-5 cm long, arranged in compact rosettes; blue-grey color with violet hues in winter. Short stem, tubular white flowers with red tips.
