Native to the rocky limestone slopes of Mexico's Sierra Madre Occidental, Pachyphytum compactum is a clumping, polycarpic species. Its leaves overlap tightly in a compact rosette, distinguishing it from other Pachyphytum with a denser leaf arrangement. Leaves thick, spatulate, 3-4 cm long, arranged in a dense overlapping rosette. Gray-blue coloration with pinkish tips intensified under full sun and drought stress.
Expose to morning direct sun and afternoon shade. Water sparingly from spring to early autumn; no watering in winter. Use substrate with minimum 70% mineral drainage components. Minimum temperature 5 °C. Root rot risk if waterlogging occurs.
