Pachyphytum sp. originates from the mountainous regions of Mexico, commonly found on calcareous rocky slopes between 1500 and 2500 m elevation. It is a slow-growing, perennial, polycarpic species with succulent leaf tissue. Certain specimens exhibit a distinctive waxy bloom uncommon in other Crassulaceae genera. Leaves spatulate, 10-25 mm thick, arranged in compact rosettes with slightly undulate margins. Grey-blue coloration shifting to violet hues under water stress or high light exposure. Leaf length ranges from 3 to 5 cm.
Exposure to filtered or morning sun; watering restricted from spring to early autumn, suspended in winter. Substrate containing at least 70% draining mineral components. Minimum temperature 5 °C. Root rot risk from waterlogging is critical.
