Native to eastern Madagascar, Pachypodium lamerei inhabits limestone rocky slopes. It is a monocarpic species with a succulent stem exceeding 3 meters. Notably, it features robust spines aligned along the trunk ribs, differentiating it within its genus. Leaves are lanceolate, 10-15 cm long, arranged in apical rosettes. Dark green with glaucous hues, yellowing occurs in winter. Conical spines, 2-4 cm long, line the stem ribs.
Requires at least 6 hours of direct full sun. Water sparingly from October to March; increase during active growth. Substrate must contain at least 70% mineral components with excellent drainage. Minimum temperature 10°C; prone to stem rot if waterlogged.
