Native to mountainous areas of Mexico, Pachyveria Blue Mist thrives on calcareous rocky slopes between 1200 and 1800 meters elevation. It is a clump-forming polycarpic species. Unique in its genus for the intense blue pigmentation of its leaves caused by elevated anthocyanin concentration. Spatulate leaves 3-5 cm long arranged in a dense rosette. Surface coated with a waxy blue-gray cuticle, color shifts from pale blue-gray to deep blue under light stress.
Needs full sun exposure for minimum 6 hours daily. Water sparingly in winter, increase frequency in summer allowing complete drying between irrigations. Substrate with at least 70% mineral content and neutral pH. Minimum temperature 5°C. Prolonged waterlogging causes root rot.
