Peperomia asperula is native to the humid montane forests of Mexico, typically found on calcareous rocky substrates between 1000-2000 m elevation. It is a slow-growing perennial with a bushy habit and distinctly wrinkled leaves, setting it apart from other Peperomia species. Ovate leaves 3-5 cm long with prominent veins and a wrinkled surface; alternate and slightly overlapping arrangement; dark green coloration with silvery reflections intensified under high light conditions.
Provide bright filtered light; reduce watering in winter, increase during active growth; substrate with minimum 70% mineral content ensuring drainage; minimum temperature 12°C; avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot.
