Sedum species native mainly to temperate North America and southwestern Europe, typically occupying calcareous rocks and rocky slopes. They are perennial and often polycarpic, with some species adapted to xeric microhabitats. Certain species exhibit foliar calcium oxalate crystals, a distinctive trait within the genus. Leaves spatulate, 1-3 cm long, arranged in compact or slightly open rosettes; color ranges from glaucous green to reddish under water stress. Succulent stems erect or prostrate, with corymbose inflorescences.
Full sun exposure for minimum 6 hours; reduced watering in winter, increased during active growth; substrate with at least 70% mineral content for drainage; minimum temperature 0°C; prevent waterlogging to avoid root rot.
