Sempervivum tectorum Oddity originates from calcareous rocky slopes in the Eastern Alps. It exhibits a biennial growth cycle as a polycarpic species, distinguished by rosettes with phenotypic leaf pigmentation mutations, featuring irregular margins compared to the typical form. Compact rosettes 5-7 cm wide, spatulate leaves 3-4 cm long with irregular dentate margins. Leaf color shifts from gray-green to purplish hues in winter, primarily on leaf edges.
Requires full sun exposure for minimum 6 hours daily. Water sparingly from late spring to early autumn; substrate must contain 70% mineral content with high drainage. Minimum tolerance to -10°C; prone to rot if waterlogged.
