Native to coastal areas of South Africa, Senecio crassissimus inhabits calcareous rocky slopes. It is a perennial succulent with a bushy habit, distinguished within the genus by its unusually thick and rigid cylindrical leaves. Cylindrical leaves, 6-12 cm long, arranged in open rosettes, green-gray with bluish hues intensifying under water stress.
Full sun exposure; reduced watering from autumn to spring, increased in summer; substrate with minimum 70% mineral drainage; minimum temperature 5°C; avoid waterlogging to prevent root rot.
