Senecio scaposus compactum originates from rocky slopes in eastern South Africa, thriving on well-drained volcanic substrates. It is a polycarpic species with annually developing scapose stems, notable within its genus for dense clump formation and minimal branching. Linear leaves, 3-5 cm long, arranged in dense spirals on 10-15 cm scapose stems. Grey-green coloration with silvery hues, accentuated under strong light exposure.
Full sun exposure for a minimum of 6 hours daily. Reduced watering in winter, increased during active growth. Substrate containing at least 70% mineral content, neutral pH. Minimum temperature 5°C; root rot risk from waterlogging.
