Thelocactus sp. hails from Mexico, commonly found on calcareous soils and sandy rocky outcrops in semi-desert areas. It is a polycarpic cactus with globose or columnar stems, often featuring prominent ribs. Certain species exhibit asymmetric radial spines, marking a morphological deviation within the genus. Stem globose or columnar, 5-12 cm diameter, with 8 to 15 ribs. Central spines 1-5, rigid, up to 4 cm long; radial spines 10-20, thin, irregularly arranged. Intense green color, shifting to bluish under full sunlight.
Requires minimum 6 hours of direct full sun. Watering limited to active growth periods, avoiding waterlogging; substrate composed of at least 70% mineral components (coarse sand, pumice). Minimum temperature 5 °C. Root rot risk if overwatered.
