Native to the Bolivian Andes, Trichocereus multiproliferum inhabits calcareous rocky slopes at 2000-3000 m elevation. It is a polycarpic species with cespitose growth, distinguished by prolific lateral shoot formation, an unusual trait within the typically columnar genus. Cylindrical stems 3-5 cm diameter, 30-60 cm height, 7-9 ribs, radial spines 10-15 mm, dark green with bluish hues during summer.
Full sun exposure; watering limited to active growth in spring-summer; substrate with minimum 70% mineral drainage; minimum temperature 5 °C; prone to root rot from waterlogging.
