Cylindropuntia fulgida originates from the Sonoran Desert in Mexico and Arizona, thriving on rocky slopes and sandy soils. It is a polycarpic species with segmented cylindrical stems reaching 20 cm in length. Notably, its golden-yellow spines effectively reflect intense sunlight, differentiating it within its genus. Segmented cylindrical stems 10-20 cm long arranged openly. Golden-yellow spines 3-5 cm long with seasonal color shifts. Leafless segments measuring 2-3 cm in diameter.
Full direct sun exposure. Water sparingly from spring to late summer, no irrigation in winter. Substrate with minimum 70% mineral content for drainage. Minimum temperature 5 °C. Susceptible to waterlogging; ensure rapid drainage.
