Native to southern Texas, Echeveria runyonii topsyturvy thrives on sun-exposed limestone slopes. It is a polycarpic species with rosettes exhibiting leaf curvature inverted relative to the genus norm, providing a unique morphological trait among Echeverias. Leaves spatulate, 5-7 cm long, arranged in a compact rosette with upward leaf curvature. Grey-blue coloration with subtle pink margins under water stress.
Full sun exposure for minimum 6 hours daily. Reduced watering from October to March, increased during spring-summer. Substrate containing more than 70% draining mineral components. Minimum temperature 5°C; prone to damage from prolonged waterlogging.
