gymnocalycium baldianum

Gymnocalycium baldianum originates from the rocky slopes of northwestern Argentina at elevations between 1000 and 1500 meters. It is a slow-growing, polycarpic globular cactus, typically 5-8 cm in diameter, distinguished within its genus by its thicker ribs and spine arrangement. Globular stem with 8-10 rounded ribs, 7-10 mm thick. Radial spines number 6-8, 10-15 mm long, ranging from light brown to gray. Flowers 4-5 cm wide, intense pink, bloom during summer.

Full sun exposure with partial shade during peak heat. Watering reduced from October to March, increased in spring-summer. Substrate containing at least 70% mineral, well-draining components. Minimum temperature 5 °C. Susceptible to rot from waterlogging.
