It is a perennial, polycarpic succulent, unique in its genus for tubular leaves marked by longitudinal white tubercle bands. Leaves tubular, 4-7 cm long, arranged in a compact rosette; surface bears longitudinal white tubercles on dark green background, which may darken during winter.
