Native to South Africa, Haworthia papillosa inhabits siliceous rocky slopes under natural shade. This slow-growing, polycarpic species exhibits minimal flowering. It is distinguished within the genus by translucent papillae on leaves, providing a unique tactile and visual texture. Triangular leaves, 8-12 mm thick, arranged in a compact rosette; surface covered with translucent papillae forming irregular networks; dark green coloration with gray-blue hues intensified under shaded conditions.
Filtered light preferred, avoiding direct exposure; watering reduced from autumn to spring with extended dry intervals; substrate containing at least 70% coarse sand and pumice; minimum temperature 8°C; prone to damage from prolonged waterlogging.
