Stapelia gigantea originates from rocky limestone slopes in arid regions of South Africa. It is a polycarpic species with quadrangular succulent stems exceeding 1 meter in length. Notably, it produces massive flowers up to 40 cm wide, covered with fine hairs and emitting a carrion-like odor. Quadrangular stems 5-7 cm thick, green-gray with slightly undulate margins. Open, branched stem arrangement. Star-shaped flowers 30-40 cm wide, petals pubescent with reddish-brown spots on yellow-green background.
