Echeveria alita is native to central Mexico, inhabiting limestone rocky slopes at elevations between 1500 and 2200 meters. It exhibits a compact cespitose growth and is polycarpic. Unique within the genus for its slightly crenate leaf margins and sublustrous leaf surface. Spatulate leaves 4-6 cm long arranged in a compact rosette, crenate margins. Green-grey coloration with pinkish hues in winter, sublustrous surface.
Requires at least 6 hours of direct sunlight. Reduced watering from October to March, substrate with minimum 70% mineral content. Minimum temperature 5 °C. Sensitive to prolonged waterlogging.
